Letter to OVED from Sweden

This month we received several great letters from Oved supporters near and far. Here are a couple of encouraging messages – the first is from an Oved supporter named Ulla, from Sweden:

“Hi George

Many thanks for all the information regarding OVED, which appears to be an important and active organization. I understand that you are deeply committed and doing an amazing job in this organization that involves so many famous people.

Perhaps you know that a very good and informative book about Raoul Wallenberg’s fantastic life has been published in Swedish. Written by Ingrid Carlberg who also wrote the book about Ludvig Nobel, 600 pages. Haven’t read it yet but my niece just told me about it and said the book was incredibly good and educational.

Here in Båstad there is a gallery that just has an exhibition of Ulla and Gustaf Kraitz ceramics. Among them is a Raoul Wallenberg briefcase in brown ceramic!

It’s wonderful that you are so committed and make such an important effort to teach and to remember.

Hugs,

Ulla”

Hej George

Stort tack för all information rörande OVED

Kram
Ulla

We also received this note from Yvonne, a Canadian supporter:

“Hello George,

I attended the online memorial for Raoul Wallenberg today.

It continues to be important to remember Wallenberg and his deeply humanitarian deeds.

Your involvement is an important contribution to maintain his legacy,

All the best

Yvonne”

Finally, a wonderful letter from a teacher after a presentation by OVED co-founder Celine Szoges:

Hi Celine,

Just wanted to say thank you for a very thoughtful and engaging presentation this afternoon. The kids were very grateful to be the first to hear from you, and their differing opinions on many of your questions showed me they were really thinking and taking time to consider the dilemmas you presented. I think your speech was so unique in that it allowed them this opportunity to think and wonder, and one student spoke afterwards about how it was more engaging than many other speakers because it was so interactive. Your presentation really allowed us to have some interesting discussion when it was done and the kids continued asking questions!

Zoom can be a difficult medium for presentation – there’s nothing like face-to-face – but I think you really made them think, and for that, we thank you very much!

I hope you will go on to continue sharing your father’s story and your considerations about it with other groups of students in the years to come.

Wishing you all the best,
Samantha
